Local context
The Institute for Access to Educational Attainment delivers innovative education and learning support for schools and higher education institutions in Baltimore, Maryland, with a focus on helping students—and the systems that serve them—reach meaningful educational outcomes. Drawing on experience supporting charter K–12 and higher education organizations, the Institute provides principal leadership and coaching, instructional leadership, and school improvement planning designed to strengthen long-term performance. Its strategic planning and course planning services help institutions align programs with goals, including career technology program implementation and technology innovations that support modern learning environments. The Institute also offers planning and implementation support for virtual and online learning, as well as assistance for initiatives related to Race to the Top and student funding, including restructuring and reform initiatives. For colleges and universities, it supports college access and transition services from high school to college, helping learners—especially those navigating nontraditional pathways and changing populations—move from enrollment to persistence. Additional services include first year experience planning, student advising and retention models, student persistence and retention risk management, and student assessment, research, and evaluation. Guided by a values-driven approach to equity and access, the Institute’s unique strength is connecting leadership, planning, and data-informed improvement to practical strategies for at-risk student populations and student success from the first semester onward.
